The Game Developers Conference 2015 organizers chose Book Of Fate among 15 teams for alt.ctrl.GDC, an on-site exhibit of alternative control schemes and interactions. We showcased Book of Fate at the alt.ctrl.GDC exhibit area at Moscone’s North Hall — alongside the GDC Play area and Career Center.

About the project:

Book of Fate was a 3 week project for the Building Virtual Worlds (BVW) class at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC). The goal of Book of Fate was to create an interactive experience that tells a simple story while making the player feel like they are a wizard casting magic.

My role was the sound designer on this team. I wrote the script, directed voice acting and was responsible for all the music and sound effects in the game. Since it was a 3 week project and I am not very good at composing music on a computer, I mixed tracks from games set in magical worlds, such as Skyrim. To integrate the music and audio effects I used the sound manager I wrote for Unity.
